Summer 2021 Season Highlights

Brent Funderburk returns to the Schmidt Vocal Institute as a pianist and faculty member. The two-week intensive for gifted high school singers immerses students in lessons, coachings, stagecraft, masterclasses, and performances. This summer’s guest faculty also includes pianists and coaches J.J. Penna (New England Conservatory/The Juilliard School) and Craig Terry (Musical Director of Ryan Opera Center-Lyric Opera of Chicago). The institute will be held at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio from June 21 - July 4, 2021.

Immediately following, Brent begins coaching at Westminster’s CoOPERAtive Progam. Tailored for the undergraduate singer interested in opera and art song, the three-week program focuses on enhancing musical style, performance techniques, dramatic presentation, language, diction, and body awareness. This year’s program—featuring guest master clinician Warren Jones—is held virtually from July 4 - 24, 2021.
